Project Profile

Positioning of the existing services and restrictions on entry and exit points imposed division of spaces that were difficult to merge with the flow in totality. Segregation of Guest entry to dining area and the lounge at entry point imposed the creation of a narrow walk way. But the biggest challenge was maintaining the right mood as one enters the different areas of dining or the lounge, without compromising on the functionality. This led to experimenting with materials and lighting.
The project started out with a few challenges that were also its biggest advantage. The sloping topography, while being a construction trial, was an architect’s delight as it gave us the opportunity to experiment with the design. Another challenge was the brief from the client that the house should not be seen from the road.
Architecturally, we had designed the rooftop into split levels to accommodate a lap pool on terrace and a fitness center at the lower level. These Levels detailed out from the architectural design at the rooftop were to be utilized to create an intimate and charming dining experience to the guests. With twinkling stars above and a splendid view of the city from top, there was a concept emerged, less is more.
Nature of the space being linear planning and division of spaces was the challenge. Position of the service core further imposed restriction on the position of bar counter. The canopy of drop off area for the ground level acted as extension of linear lounge and was to be used as open-air lounge and a smoking area. Interior Designer Mr. Masafumi Sanada M-Style Japan emphasized on linear planning which would further enhance the quality of space and create an effect of a long bar.
The positioning of the existing services imposed division of spaces, which were difficult to merge with the flow in totality. Smooth transition of spaces, letting the landscape to flow inside while an enclosed space to merge with outside nature without compromising on the functionality was the challenge. Lush green hills around the site were an added advantage. Contemporary styling as a base, we decided to add glimpses of South Eastern elements to arrive at the final solution.
